"One of our sons called to say he’d been thinking of me because he’d heard the song “So This is Love” and remembered me singing the tune to him as a baby.

I sang to all of the boys regularly when they were young. Now, even thinking of holding and feeding them in the rocking chair while humming or singing moves me to instant tears. Tears because time went so fast and those moments are some of the most love filled I’ve ever had in my life. The fact that he remembered and wanted to share it with me, made my day… my week.. my year.

Sometimes I get caught up with things I’m working on or would like to accomplish but hearing that and knowing that my sons have felt loved in life… I think that’s the gift of my lifetime.

Right before he'd called, I'd come into the studio to clean after an intense week of mess making. As we hung up, I began mixing a palette of colorful gouache and began painting instead."
